Blade Runner study - Rachael

I began to recognize in myself a strange obsession. After all, I am artistically inexperienced, with only a few years in which to build up the expertise which you may take for granted. If I practice with a passion, I create a basis or a foundation for my aspirations, and consequently, I can maybe draw better.

From the IC graveyard

Several years ago I was making concepts and wallpapers for DC's Infinite Crisis game. The game was cancelled in 2015, and several characters and skins were never released. Today I was rooting around in an old hard drive and came across my IC folder and thought I'd post some of them. Keep the blog kicking, haha.

IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE!! THE BLOG LIVES!!!

Got the itch to draw Conan again. I wanted to do it in a more stylized Mignola, Michael Golden, Ben Stenbeck, or Cory Walker style, but completely and utterly failed. I'll give it another shot this week. Same pose, same design.

Black Night redesign

Had a little time this weekend to work on my BK re-imagining. He's from the ancient past, and he's ditched his old suit of armor for modern powered body armor. Still wanna add color, refine the armor more, and redesign the ebony blade.

Black Knight

Another lunchtime sketch. Black Knight is returning to the Avengers this month after not making many appearances since the mid 90's. When I was a kid, I thought he was pretty cool. Nowadays, he looks kind of goofy. Not sure if this will end up being classic BK, or a redesign. He could be super cool! Go toe-to-toe with Blade in a swordfight or something. Maybe take on a leadership role in the team. He'd have that Captain America - A Man Out Of Time vibe thing going on.

More Supermen!

Here's a pair of Kryptonians. New 52 Supes poster art for IC's referral program, and Nightmare Superman. It's fun to paint these guys while listening to all the various Superman movie soundtracks. NERDY!

A few more from the moba I'm working on. We just went into open beta and these are two of three characters who became available today.

Reaper of Souls

Did this commission for Blizzard last year of Malthael, Angel of Death. Played the expansion too. Best act in the game IMHO. Love me some Crusader!

New Olaf splash art for League of Legends!

Finished this bad boy earlier this year. Riot did some touch up to bring it closer to their style. I like how it turned out!

NYCC Infinite Crisis Arcane Green Lantern poster

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of painting a poster of Arcane Green Lantern of DC's Infinite Crisis MOBA for the New York Comic Con. Here it is with and without text. I guess Turbine was handing these out as exclusive NYCC posters at Warner's booth.

The Red Scourge of the Frozen North!

...or something like that.

What initially started off as a knight, eventually turned into sort of companion piece for the Conan art I did early last year. Next up? The Queen of the Black Coast, Belit!

Secret Ponchos at PAX EAST!

This is it! Playable at PAX East this weekend! My friends have been working hard on this game for the last few years, and I'm very lucky and proud to have been able to contribute some art for it. Everything Yousuf says in the article is true. When we were housemates long ago, we used to devour games like Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur, Warcraft and Starcraft. That addiction to competitive skill-based play has stuck with all of us and we're hoping to have captured some of that magic in Ponchos.

If you're heading to PAX next week, be sure to drop by the booth and play the game. :)
